Stocks To Keep Your Eye On - 08/10/2007

AES Corp. (AES) rose 65 cents, or 3.5 percent, to $19.01 in after-hours trading. The power producer said second-quarter profit from continuing operations was 41 cents a share. The average estimate from three analysts was 21 cents.

Emulex Corp. (ELX) fell $1.19, or 6.7 percent, to $16.60 in extended trading. The maker of hardware components that help computers store data forecast profit excluding some items of as much as 26 cents a share in the fiscal first quarter. The average estimate from analysts was 29 cents.

Hormel Foods Corp. (HRL) fell $1.61, or 5.1 percent, to $30.15 in trading after the official close of U.S. exchanges. The maker of Jennie-O Turkey and Spam luncheon meat reported fiscal third-quarter profit of 40 cents to 42 cents a share. That was less than the company forecast of 42 cents to 48 cents because of higher-than-expected meat costs.

Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. (LGF), the largest independent U.S. film studio, reported a wider first-quarter loss after films including ``Hostel 2'' and ``Bug'' brought in fewer ticket sales than some analysts expected. The stock fell 19 cents, or 2 percent, to $9.31 in regular trading.
