Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) fell 14 cents, or 2.2 percent, to $6.20 after the official close of U.S. exchanges. The world's second-largest maker of personal-computer chips said first-quarter revenue missed its forecasts and the company plans to cut 10 percent of its staff.
Agria Corp. American depositary receipts (GRO) slumped $3.55, or 40 percent, to $5.25 in extended trading. The Chinese provider of corn seeds, tree seedlings and products for sheep breeding said Zhixin Xue resigned as the company's operating officer and its auditing of 2007 financial results has been delayed. As a result, the company withdrew its earnings forecasts for the first quarter and the full year of 2008.
Alcoa Inc. (AA): The world's third-largest aluminum company said first-quarter profit tumbled 54 percent because of surging energy costs. Excluding some items, profit was 44 cents a share, trailing the 50-cent average estimate from analysts in a Bloomberg survey. The stock fell $1.56, or 4 percent, to $37.44 in regular trading before the announcement.
