Best Buy Co. (BBY) lost 4.2 percent to $43.83. The largest U.S. consumer electronics chain cut its full-year earnings forecast to $3.05 to $3.10 a share, saying fourth- quarter revenue will fall short of targets.

CarMax Inc. (KMX): Billionaire Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRK/A US) increased its stake in the biggest U.S. used-car dealer by 50 percent to 21 million shares. The 9.6 percent position may make Berkshire the No. 2 shareholder. CarMax lost 2.3 percent to $18.85 yesterday.

Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. (CMG) retreated 12 percent to $96. Chief Finance and Development Officer Jack Hartung said the fast-food chain faces ``significant challenges in the near term.'' Higher prices for beef, chicken, cheese and wheat are increasing costs for Chipotle and other restaurants, and consumers facing higher gasoline are eating out less.

Kraft Foods Inc. (KFT) gained 3.3 percent to $30.27. Billionaire Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRK/A) became the largest shareholder in the world's second-biggest foodmaker.

Peabody Energy Corp. (BTU) lost 4.5 percent to $54.50. The nation's largest coal producer and the rest of the U.S. industry was cut to ``cautious'' from ``neutral'' by Goldman Sachs Group Inc., which said they are overvalued. The stocks may fall 20 percent on average as international coal prices retreat, analyst Michael Molnar wrote in a research note.

Arch Coal Inc. (ACI) fell 5.9 percent to $48.54. Foundation Coal Holdings Inc. (FCL) retreated 3.8 percent to $52.30. International Coal Group Inc. (ICO) slipped 4.7 percent to $6.65. Massey Energy Co. (MEE) lost 4.8 percent to $39.73. Consol Energy Inc. (CNX) fell 1.5 percent to $78.68.

Thomson SA American depository receipts (TMS): The world's largest supplier of set-top boxes was cut to ``underperform'' by Cheuvreux after the company said the start of 2008 will be ``challenging.'' Thomson fell 16 percent to $10.09 yesterday.

Yingli Green Energy Holding Co. American depositary receipts (YGE) lost 14 percent to $21.34. The Chinese maker of solar- power modules that more than doubled in the past year on the New York Stock Exchange reported 14 percent less fourth-quarter profit than analysts estimated, according to Bloomberg data.
