Anadarko Petroleum Corp. (APC): The second-largest independent oil and natural-gas producer in the U.S. increased its 2007 production forecast by 2 million barrels of oil equivalent. The shares gained 60 cents to $55.25 in regular trading yesterday.
Enbridge Energy Partners LP (EEP) declined $2.48, or 4.6 percent, to $50.94 in extended trading yesterday. The Houston- based unit of Canada's largest pipeline company by revenue said it plans to sell 4 million Class A common units and will use the proceeds to repay debt. Additional units may give each remaining unit a smaller slice of the company's earnings.
Jo-Ann Stores Inc. (JAS) dropped $1.08, or 5.2 percent, to $19.52 after the official close of U.S. trading yesterday. The fabric retailer cut its 2008 earning forecast to as much as 65 cents a share from an earlier prediction of up to 70 cents, citing ``increased uncertainty in consumer spending.''
Men's Wearhouse Inc. (MW) fell $4.13, or 10 percent, to $36.92 in after-hours trading yesterday. The business-suit retailer whose chief doubles as its pitchman forecast fourth- quarter earnings of as much as 48 cents a share. That's lower than the 54-cent average estimate of three analysts compiled by Bloomberg.
Prudential Financial Inc. (PRU) dropped $1.92, or 2 percent, to $92.46 yesterday. The second-largest U.S. life insurer said Vice Chairman John Strangfeld will take over as chief executive officer on Jan. 1. Strangfeld, 53, replaces Arthur Ryan, who has run Prudential since December 1994, the company said in a statement.
SLM Corp. (SLM) slipped $1.01, or 2.7 percent, to $36.77 yesterday. The biggest educational lender in the U.S. named Albert Lord executive chairman, returning him to the helm of the company as it sues an investment group for abandoning a planned $25.3 billion buyout. Lord has been SLM's board chairman since March 2005.
WellCare Health Plans Inc. (WCG) gained $4.07, or 11 percent, to $40.64 in extended trading yesterday. The U.S. health insurer said its Arizona subsidiary won a one-year Medicare and Medicaid contract to offer Medicare Advantage plans in Georgia.
