Competitors of Ericsson also dropped. Motorola Inc. (MOT) slid 22 cents, or 1.1 percent, to $19.12. American depositary receipts of Nokia Oyj (NOK) declined $1.25, or 3.4 percent, to $35.19. ADRs of Alcatel-Lucent SA (ALU) dropped 49 cents, or 5 percent, to $9.25.
Forest Laboratories Inc. (FRX): The company and Budapest- based Gedeon Richter Nyrt. said schizophrenic patients receiving high doses of the experimental drug RGH-1888 failed to show a statistically significant improvement. Forest Laboratories shares gained $1.55, or 4 percent, to $40.38 yesterday.
Genentech Inc. (DNA): The world's second-biggest biotechnology company reported third-quarter revenue of $2.91 billion, shy of analysts' estimates of $2.92 billion, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Genentech shares climbed 25 cents, or 0.3 percent, to $77.50 yesterday.
KeyCorp (KEY): Ohio's third-biggest bank said profit fell 33 percent, a bigger decline than analysts expected, on losses from loan sales and writedowns the company attributed to ``extraordinary volatility'' in the credit markets. The shares dropped 69 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $32.35 yesterday.
Olin Corp. (OLN): The maker of Winchester ammunition agreed to sell its metals unit to a subsidiary of Global Brass & Copper Holdings Inc. for $400 million in cash. Olin shares lost 48 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $22.58 yesterday.
Regions Financial Corp. (RF): The biggest bank based in Alabama said in a statement third-quarter earnings gained 12 percent as its acquisition of AmSouth Bancorp led to higher interest income. Regions Financial shares lost 43 cents, or 1.5 percent, to $29.13 yesterday.
Robbins & Myers Inc. (RBN): The maker of Moyno pumps and Chemineer industrial mixers forecast 2008 profit of $3.30 to $3.50 a share, more than the $3.12 average estimate of analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. Robbins & Myers shares rose $1.39, or 2.3 percent, to $61.09 yesterday.
Supervalu Inc. (SVU): The second-largest U.S. supermarket chain reported second-quarter profit excluding some items of 74 cents a share, beating the average analyst estimate of 68 cents a share. Supervalu shares declined 25 cents, or 0.7 percent, to $35.24 yesterday.
