Cinemark Holdings Inc. (CNK) The movie theater chain that went public in April said second-quarter profit tripled to 45 cents a share on box-office sales driven by an acquisition and Hollywood's top-grossing films this year. Sales rose 49 percent to $440 million, beating the $418.2 million average estimate of three analysts. The stock was unchanged at $16.98 in regular trading.
Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) declined $2.25, or 3.9 percent, to $55.42 in after-hours trading yesterday. The computer-services provider delayed filing its fiscal first- quarter report as it sorts out how tax rules will affect its earnings.
DeVry Inc. (DV) fell 61 cents, or 1.8 percent, to $33.07 in extended trading yesterday. The for-profit education provider said revenue in the fiscal fourth quarter was $232.8 million. That's short of the average estimate of $241.6 million from analysts.
FirstFed Financial Corp. (FED) The bank with 33 branches in southern California plans to buy back as many as 1.35 million shares, or about 10 percent of those outstanding. FirstFed declined $2.10, or 4.6 percent, to $43.50 in regular trading yesterday.
