Boston Scientific Corp. (BSX) gained 69 cents, or 5.3 percent, to $13.70 after the official close of U.S. exchanges. The world's biggest maker of drug-coated stents said profit more than doubled in the first quarter on lower costs and increased sales of defibrillators and other heart devices. Earnings per share excluding some items beat analysts' estimates by 11 cents, according to a Bloomberg survey.

CIT Group Inc. (CIT) fell $1.69, or 13 percent, to $11.05 in extended trading. The commercial lender trying to escape a cash squeeze said it would sell common stock and preferred shares to raise $1 billion.

Texas Instruments Inc. (TXN) fell 61 cents, or 2 percent, to $29.98 in extended trading. The second-largest semiconductor maker in the U.S. forecast second-quarter profit that missed analysts' estimates as demand for mobile-phone chips slows.
