Clear Channel Communications Inc. (CCU) dropped $7.01, or 22 percent, to $25.55 after the official close of U.S. exchanges. The company's planned private-equity buyout is close to falling apart, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing unidentified people familiar with the matter. Clear Channel isn't commenting, spokeswoman Michele Clarke said.
General Dynamics Corp. (GD): The second-largest shipbuilder for the U.S. Navy won a contract valued at as much as $375 million to provide a tactical data network for the Marine Corps., the U.S. Defense Department said. The stock fell 35 cents to $85.01 in regular trading.
Jabil Circuit Inc. (JBL) fell $1.45, or 13 percent, to $9.93 in extended trading. The maker of phones and electronics for other companies said that, excluding some items, it expects to earn as much as 22 cents a share in the third quarter. Analysts, on average, anticipated profit of 34 cents, according to a Bloomberg survey.
NRG Energy Inc. (NRG): The second-biggest power producer in Texas said it formed a venture with Japan's Toshiba Corp. (6502:JP) to develop nuclear power projects in North America. The stock rose 39 cents to $37.94 in regular trading.
SAIC Inc. (SAI) slid 50 cents, or 2.7 percent, to $18.25 in extended trading. The defense-industry computer services contractor said per-share earnings in the current fiscal year could fall short of growth-rate goals as reductions in market interest rates ``will reduce interest income significantly.''
