Assurant Inc. (AIZ) The insurer that is undergoing an accounting probe and suspended its chief executive officer in July said it suspended a stock buyback program and doesn't expect to initiate a new one this year. The stock rose 39 cents to $51.93 in regular trading.

Chesapeake Energy Corp. (CHK) rose 67 cents, or 2 percent, to $33.49 in trading after the official close of U.S. exchanges. The natural gas producer said it will create a master limited partnership and sell assets in Kentucky and West Virginia representing about 1.5 percent of the company's production and proved reserves.

China Unicom Ltd. (CHU) American depositary receipts, which represent 10 ordinary shares, increased 62 cents, or 3.2 percent, to $19.75 in extended trading. Jingwei International said it will provide mobile advertising services to subscribers of China's second-biggest mobile-phone operator.

Guess? Inc. (GES) fell $3.87, or 7.2 percent, to $49.53 in extended trading. The apparel maker said annual profit would be $1.79 to $1.84 a share. Analysts estimated $1.84, on average, according to a Bloomberg survey.

Polo Ralph Lauren Corp. (RL) The designer of Chaps and Club Monaco clothing said it will reiterate earnings per share guidance for fiscal 2008 of $3.64 to $3.74. The average estimate among analysts surveyed by Bloomberg is $3.73. Shares increased $1.12, or 1.5 percent, to $76.66 in New York Stock Exchange composite trading yesterday.

Triarc Cos. (TRY) The owner of the Arby's roast beef restaurant chain said it named Thomas Garrett as chief operating officer and said Stephen Hare would become finance chief. The stock fell 29 cents to $14.50 in regular trading.
