Alliant Techsystems Inc. (ATK) The only maker of reusable solid-rocket motors for U.S. space shuttles reaffirmed its fiscal 2008 outlook, announced earlier this month, to account for a NASA contract awarded yesterday. Alliant expects fiscal 2008 profit to be $6.15 to $6.25 a share on sales of $4 billion to $4.1 billion. It expects orders of roughly $6 billion. The stock declined $3.78 to $104.79 in regular trading yesterday.

Big Lots Inc. (BIG) rose $3.05, or 12 percent, to $29.45 in trading before U.S. exchanges opened. The largest U.S. seller of discontinued goods reported second-quarter earnings that beat analysts' average estimate. The company also boosted its 2007 profit forecast.

Dillard's Inc. (DDS) The department store chain had a second-quarter loss of 31 cents a share. Analysts surveyed expected a 2 cent loss. Dillard's shares fell $1.34, or 5.2 percent, to $24.34 yesterday.

Dycom Industries Inc. (DY) The contractor for the companies such as Verizon Communications Inc. and Comcast Corp. said fourth-quarter profit was 35 cents a share, which is above the 32-cent average estimate of four analysts. Dycom shares slipped 53 cents to $24.25 in regular trading yesterday.

Nokia Oyj American depositary receipts (NOK) rose $1.18, or 3.9 percent, to $31.19 in trading before U.S. exchanges opened. The world's biggest maker of mobile phones unveiled new music phones and plans for a simpler user interface to fend off Apple Inc.'s iPhone. The new 5610, 5310 and N81 music phones, along with an upgraded version of the N95 handset with 8 gigabytes of memory, will start shipping in the fourth quarter, the company said.

Seagate Technology (STX) rose $1.29, or 5.3 percent, to $25.75 in trading before U.S. exchanges opened. The world's largest maker of hard-disk drives boosted its sales and profit forecasts for the current quarter.
